Adjusted, my point was that there are not many large organisations such as the JW org with 8 million followers who condemn education. There are of course billions of uneducated and poor who still look to religion for some hope in life.

Jehovah's Witnesses in deep denial
by Half banana inthere can be no more profound form of ignorance than one which prohibits knowledge.
the watchtower organisation is one of the last remaining dinosaurs to do this.
instead of considering the biological and ecological complexity of life it gazes into its own oily navel and says with open-mouthed disneyfied wonderment, how marvellous nature is, how sacred jehovah is, how wonderful the governing body are!.

There can be no more profound form of ignorance than one which prohibits knowledge. The Watchtower organisation is one of the last remaining dinosaurs to do this. Instead of considering the biological and ecological complexity of life it gazes into its own oily navel and says with open-mouthed ‘Disneyfied’ wonderment, ”How marvellous nature is, how sacred Jehovah is, how wonderful the governing body are!”
With deliberate avoidance of learning about the origins of the Bible; it praises its holiness. Without thinking that Jehovah began as a cow headed idol in a minor pagan cult; it worships this god. Everything they hold is without thinking, without investigation and without examination! They confuse and conflate knowledge of the Bible with reality.
How can anyone understand the Bible without looking at the history of the texts they were formed from? How can the source ideas be understood without knowing the religious and political climate in which they were written... and when and where those ideas were first recorded... and by whom...and for whom...and for what purpose they were borrowed and copied and included in the canon?
The JW org make the astounding claim that they alone know the intentions of God’s mind, they say that you only need to listen to them for all instruction in life...preposterous! They think they know everything and they try to prevent external information getting to their flock they even cut out information about their earlier history. All this and yet they have never got any one thing right in their whole history. Mistakes being eclipsed by magic "new light."
They have now invested their corporate hope in the JW mass media propaganda machine. However through the internet, the world is already seeing that this cult religion with its “Bible based beliefs” is looking distinctly out of step with modern life which increasingly offers compassionate, tolerant, science based progress. In turn they are trying to compensate with a squeaky clean ‘televangelist’ image whilst trampling on education, promoting homophobia, shunning family members, stifling personal growth and relishing the claim that their God says he will destroy those who don’t believe in him.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are in deep psychological denial, what hope is there of them coming clean and admitting the fact?

Barings Bank & the JWs
by Doltologist inin the early 1990s, i was in a meeting.
we were making some major changes to the main it system of the company i worked for.
during the meeting i said, 'what would happen if one of our major customers went belly up and shouldn't we build something into the system to cope with this?'.

Does The Governing Body Have Enemies At Bethel?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini would think that a lot of resentment is building up for these for these guys at bethel even though it may not be discussed openly for fear of being abused by the gb in some way.. any way looking at their personality and the extreme phoniness of rubber mouth/face lett, and am#3, and the chicken shit coward leosch who won't even show up in court when subpoena'd to defend his faith or policies, and i'm sure they have many more undesirable traits that repel people instead of attract and that has to work its toll on relationships they have at bethel.. and this shunning thing i'm sure must really erk some at god's house and while they may not be free to voice their discontent i feel it must be building because these guys are complete nincompoops when it come to reality and the only way they know how to give direction is with fear and guilt which i'm sure is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.. and let not forget the issues that are raise when they stole all the congregations savings and the pledge drive for more cash, ban on higher education, lawsuit pay out and etc.... what is this doing to the relation ship they have with legal and accounting i see trouble brewing right thier in the spiritual pair of dice..

Bro Jeramy, can you further elucidate how non gb members are able to force their hand? Have you personal experience of the workings in the upper echelons?

Kingdom Interests
by punkofnice inin a few words, how would you describe what 'kingdom interests' really means?.
i think it means watchtower corporation's assets, posessions and rules..

Punky, I think that "kingdom interests" in Watchtower talk ultimately means feeding the personal pride that each member the gb has in perpetuating their imagined privilege as a "God's appointed."
"Kingdom interests" and "serving Jehovah" are among the rally cries of the gb... all result in greater wealth and glory for the governors and more personal sacrifice in the live's of their flock.
But hey! It's not working at the moment... to keep that glory they need the money and hence kingdom interests demand they resort to humiliating begging and stealing.

Bible Chronology, Egyptology and the Great Flood
by cappytan infact: bible chronology says the flood occurred between 2348 and 2370 bce, depending on which scholar you listen to.
fact: the great pyramid of giza was constructed 200 years before, in c. 2560 bce..
so, if you believe in a literal interpretation of noah's flood, you believe that the egyptians built a great civilization, were destroyed by the flood in 2370 bce, and then somehow, they reappeared immediately after the flood, picked right back up where they left off without skipping a cultural beat.. oh, and isn't it ironic that legitimately studying the great pyramid of giza debunks jw mythology now?

@ marmot, are you aware that the word mammoth is drawn from a Russian dialect word meaning marmot? Mammoths in Siberia always appeared under the ground like giant tusked moles hence the allusion to marmots (from a word meaning earth). -

Quite so Vidiot but from the point of view of potential punters, the JW religion is beginning to look like it's stuck in the middle ages. -

JW thinking is more and more out of step with modern thought. To uphold its fairy tale beliefs such as the flood and Adam and Eve requires ever more credulity and ignorance. This means that JWs with a glimmer of intelligence have to live with ever greater cognitive dissonance to remain in the congregation. GET OUT NOW BEFORE THEY STEAL YOUR REMAINING BRAIN CELLS!

How loving a provision Jehovah has made through his loving organisation to lovingly cut off your children if they choose not to follow the JW org. Only a god of love and a loving organisation could come up with such utter heartless crap.
The end result is what the JW org is already getting: a loveless cult full of uneducated suckers who only attend out of being shown conditional love. Very sad.
